Lakes and Valleys have available 27 traditional self-catering holiday homes for discerning visitors in various locations. Most are rustic 17th or 18th Century Lake District cottages or lovely barn conversions, where antiquity and modern comforts have been beautifully combined. Many have kept their original features and character such as exposed beams, deep window recesses, open log fires, and several even have a private jetty for lake access onto Ullswater. The atmosphere and idiosyncrasies of each property are reflected on our website, and while some maybe more luxuriously appointed than others, all are carefully prepared and maintained.

All the self catering cottages and barn conversions have been inspected, most by the English Tourist Council whose quality guide for 3, 4 and 5 Star Rated properties is as follows :

• 3 STAR - good to very good overall level of quality. good standard of maintenance and decoration.

• 4 STAR - excellent overall level of quality very good care and attention to detail is obvious throughout

The majority of our holiday cottages are set either on, or very near to Lake Ullswater (the Lake District's second largest lake), or near Haweswater. We also have a nice selection of properties in the peaceful Eden Valley, Wastwater in the West Lakes and Bowness on Windermere in the South Lakes (the Lake District's largest lake) .

If you are looking for a cottage to rent in Ullswater, Pooley Bridge, Watermillock, Celleron, Bampton, Eden Valley, Wasdale, Wastwater, Staveley, South Lakes, North Lakes, Windermere, Kendal, Bassenthwaite, near Keswick, near Coniston and Newby Bridge - then we should have something for you. For those feeling energetic, you can go fell walking, rock climbing, abseiling, orienteering, cycling or even mountain biking: the High Street mountain range, Coast to Coast and Helvellyn being almost on your doorstep. Other activities include sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, fishing, horse riding, pony treking, golf or bird-watching.
